Centralising Sustainability: The role of standardised approaches to carbon calculation and reporting.

-

The construction industry faces challenges with fragmented data on carbon emissions, resilient infrastructure and sustainability, leading to inconsistent reporting and difficulties in tracking progress against environmental targets. Unionised data tools are needed to centralise and streamline data collection, making carbon emission reporting more accurate, reliable, and comparable across projects. These portals would allow easier access to historical data, monitor trends, and improve accountability, supporting better decision-making and ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations. By adopting unified systems, the industry can foster more sustainable and resilient practices, meet global sustainability goals, and drive significant reductions in carbon emissions across the sector. This session will also focus on reliable measuring and estimation of carbon emission reporting, to try combat green washing within the industry.
