Gillian Dick leads Spatial Planning – Research & Development at Glasgow City Council, with expertise spanning urban and rural environments. A Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), she chairs their Partnership and Accreditation Panel and has worked with leading academic institutions such as Queen’s University Belfast and Technical University Dublin. Gillian was pivotal in Glasgow’s Horizon 2020 Connecting Nature project, using the city’s Open Space Strategy to pioneer nature-based solutions and is now driving Glasgow’s role as a UNEP Generation Restoration Role Model City. Her team focuses on creating resilient, adaptable places that promote biodiversity, support climate adaptation, and tackle health inequalities. Through innovative uses of vacant land and integrated environmental planning, they are shaping a greener, healthier future for Glasgow.
