Supply chain questions: Where does the responsibility lie?

-

Client and Industry perspectives

This session will explore how sustainability in construction and geotechnical supply chains can only be achieved through collective responsibility and cross-sector collaboration. Instead of a traditional panel discussion, we’ll structure this as an interactive, cross-team Q&A, where different stakeholders—clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, designers, and insurers—pose critical questions to each other, fostering real dialogue and solutions. It will also address the greenwashing within the industry

  • Clients: How can we better support the supply chain to deliver sustainability-driven projects while balancing costs and timelines?
  • Consultants: What do contractors and subcontractors need from us to ensure sustainability goals are realistically embedded in design and procurement?
  • Contractors: How can we work more collaboratively with designers and clients to ensure sustainability is easier to implement on-site?
  • Subcontractors: What commitments can clients and main contractors make to ensure sustainable materials and practices are prioritised in procurement?
  • Designers/RIBA: How can we make sustainability-led designs more practical for contractors and suppliers to execute effectively?
  • Insurers: How can sustainability be integrated into risk assessments and insurance models to encourage long-term resilience and sustainability practices?
